ARCHITECTURES FOR SOLITUDE – 2025

Ada Muntean traverses the delicate borderlands of mixed media with remarkable sensitivity: painting, drawing, photography, and video interlace in subtle layers through which she examines the identity of the twenty-first-century individual – an identity often fragmented, uncertain, shaped by contradictions. At the core of her inquiry lies the tension between idealized models, genuine desires, and lived, authentic selfhood in an era that offers more possibilities than ever before, yet also imposes an unprecedented number of scripted expectations. She interprets her works as frames of an endless film: metaphorical imprints of her own existence, capturing her doubts, fears, and inner visions. Moving along the threshold between the conscious and the unconscious, she reveals fragile layers that shape all human lives. Her practice is permeated by a deep conviction: every human path is fundamentally unique. Thus, her works function both as symbolic self-portraits and as reflections on broader existential questions. The organic movement between the outer world and the inner universe defines her entire artistic outlook. In her hybrid piece Architectures for Solitude, this idea becomes particularly resonant: the work forms a subtle passageway between physical and emotional architectures, offering a symbolic bridge between solitude and connection.
